The read
the numbers, and the eyeSecond in shot share, third in goaltending, and 26th at finishing — a Stanley Cup won in the crease and along the wall rather than on the scoresheet.
Who this names 14 of 21 on the roster · 71% of their five-on-five minutes details
Both columns above are searched, and a name counts on the same terms the page links it: in full always, by surname only when one man in the edition wears it. Nothing here says who ought to be named — only who was, so the weighting can be seen rather than guessed at.
Not named here: Uvis Balinskis, Adam Boqvist, Jesper Boqvist, Dmitry Kulikov, Eetu Luostarinen, Tomas Nosek, Carter Verhaeghe.
What the Quant Says
52-24-6 and 110 points, fourth in the league, and a Stanley Cup. Second in shot share, fifth in chance share, fifth in chance suppression, third on the power play, first on the penalty kill, third in goaltending. Twenty-sixth in finishing.
The club scored 156 goals at five-on-five against an expectation of 166.7 and conceded 119 against 143.7. Read those two together: Florida was worse than its chances at one end by eleven goals and better than them at the other by twenty-five. The entire margin is the crease.
That is not a criticism. A club is allowed to build itself around a goaltender, and this one has done it deliberately — the forecheck, the shot volume from the outside, the willingness to take a penalty to finish a hit, the second-most shorthanded time in the league. All of it assumes the last line holds.
Gustav Forsling's plus-56 is the best in this edition and sixteen goals of it are goaltending. Aaron Ekblad's ice conceded fifteen fewer than the chances said it should. Evan Rodrigues's twelve fewer. Three men, forty-three goals, one explanation.
Sergei Bobrovsky is 36 and has not had a bad season in fourteen years. Aleksander Barkov is 29, Matthew Tkachuk 26, Sam Reinhart 28, Gustav Forsling 28 and Anton Lundell 23. The skaters are in their prime and cheap enough to keep. The question every year from here is the same one, and it is asked in the crease.
What the Scout Says
A 6-6 defenceman, the most-penalised fourth line in hockey, and a goaltender who has not changed in fourteen years.
Niko Mikkola is 6-6 and 204 and Jaycob Megna 6-6 and 214. A.J. Greer is 6-3 and 224. Aaron Ekblad is 6-4 and 220. This is a large club and it plays like one.
Jonah Gadjovich took 104 penalty minutes in 39 games — a rate of 2.67 a game, the second-highest in this edition behind Austin Watson. He has 252 career penalty minutes in 118 games and 14 career points.
Sam Bennett took 100 penalty minutes in 69 games and has 580 in 615 career games. Matthew Tkachuk took 88 in 80 and has 636 in 590. Two of the most disliked forwards in hockey on the same roster, and both of them can play.
Evan Rodrigues is 5-11 and 182 and undrafted. Nate Schmidt is undrafted with 661 games. Sergei Bobrovsky is undrafted with 700. Three of the more important men here were not selected at all.
The roster
No measured season behind one man: Sergei Bobrovsky. His page carries an older stat line and a judgment, and nothing from 2023-24.
Uvis Balinskis
Evidence behind this report: Light. Thinner than most: part of the record is missing, only 343 five-on-five minutes. The page is honest about what it has, but it is a smaller sample than the book's norm.D · Florida Panthers
Undrafted, from Ventspils, and a first National Hockey League game at 27.
Aleksander Barkov
Evidence behind this report: Light. Thinner than most: part of the record is missing. The page is honest about what it has, but it is a smaller sample than the book's norm.C · Florida Panthers
The fifth-highest chance share in this edition, 148 career penalty minutes in 737 games, and the best two-way centre in hockey.

One hundred penalty minutes in 69 games and 580 in his career, and the most disliked forward on a club that has two.
Sergei Bobrovsky
Evidence behind this report: No record. No five-on-five record — Bobrovsky did not play a measured season. Everything on the page is an older line and a judgment.G · Florida Panthers
A .9149 across 700 games, undrafted, and the reason a club that finished 26th at finishing has a Stanley Cup.
Adam Boqvist
Evidence behind this report: Light. Thinner than most: part of the record is missing. The page is honest about what it has, but it is a smaller sample than the book's norm.D · Florida Panthers
Eighth overall in 2018, a career minus-41, and not one penalty minute in 35 games.

Evidence behind this report: Light. Thinner than most: part of the record is missing. The page is honest about what it has, but it is a smaller sample than the book's norm.D · Florida Panthers
Plus-56, the best mark of any skater in this edition, from a fifth-round pick who was claimed off waivers.

A.J. Greer
Evidence behind this report: Light. Thinner than most: part of the record is missing. The page is honest about what it has, but it is a smaller sample than the book's norm.LW · Florida Panthers
Six foot three and 224 pounds with 205 career penalty minutes in 167 games, on a fourth line that is meant to be unpleasant.
Dmitry Kulikov
Evidence behind this report: Light. Thinner than most: part of the record is missing. The page is honest about what it has, but it is a smaller sample than the book's norm.D · Florida Panthers
Nine hundred and forty-eight games, 591 career penalty minutes, and back where he was drafted fifteen years ago.
Anton Lundell
Evidence behind this report: Light. Thinner than most: part of the record is missing. The page is honest about what it has, but it is a smaller sample than the book's norm.C · Florida Panthers

Six foot six, a seventh-round pick, and the seventh percentile of chances in Chicago.
Niko Mikkola
Evidence behind this report: Light. Thinner than most: part of the record is missing. The page is honest about what it has, but it is a smaller sample than the book's norm.D · Florida Panthers
Six foot six, all 82 games, and the minutes nobody else on a Stanley Cup club wanted.

Fifty-seven goals and twenty-seven of them on the power play, the most of anybody in this edition.

A third-round pick who did not play a full season until he was 24 and has 127 goals in 330 games since.
How they were used
2023-24 · 82 games
Measured from shift charts at five-on-five, not projected. Units are built from the strongest partnership outward and ordered by how much they were used; the percentage is the share of the first player’s five-on-five ice time spent alongside each linemate. A low number means the club never settled on a combination. Players who have gone are marked — either to another club, or off an NHL roster altogether, which covers retirement and an unsigned summer alike.
