The shot is better than the reputation — a heavy, accurate release from the middle distance, and seventeen goals in a third-line role is a real return. 39 goals in 256 career games.
22 assists. He makes the simple pass and does not hold the puck, and the offence is a product of being in the right place rather than of creating from nothing.
The Physical Game

28 penalty minutes in 76 games and 82 in 256 for his career is a genuinely low rate for a forward this size. He does not retaliate.
The Intangibles
Sixty-seventh overall in 2017 by Carolina, and 256 games across five seasons for three clubs, none of whom kept him.
He is 26 and had the best season of his career in his first one here. A third-round pick who is discarded twice and then scores seventeen goals for a 109-point team is exactly the sort of signing that separates a good front office from an average one, and it cost nothing.
