52.4 per cent at five-on-five, the 74th percentile — the best figure among the club’s regular forwards. His on-ice goals were 35-37 against an expected 46-42, so 11 goals of finishing disappeared at one end and the minus-15 came almost entirely from special teams.
The Finesse Game
The best passer in the organisation and the reason the power play is 7th in the league. He holds pucks on the half-wall, waits for a killer to commit, and puts it through the space rather than around it — 53 assists on a club that scored 228 goals is a real total.
14.1 per cent shooting on 192 attempts is a fair rate and a third of them come from inside 20 feet. The skating is good rather than dangerous; he creates by delaying rather than by beating anybody wide.
The Physical Game
5-11 and 186, and he is not physical. He avoids the wall, does not forecheck heavily, and does not win pucks back.

The Intangibles
A fourth overall pick who has improved in every season and signed a long contract before the price rose further.
At 23 he is the most valuable asset in the organisation and the one thing about this rebuild that has gone exactly as intended. The reservation is narrow: at 186 pounds with no defensive game, he needs a centre who wins pucks, and the club’s answer to that is a 21-year-old.
