The Finesse Game
Limited by any normal standard and used perfectly. He does not carry the puck, does not create off the rush, and does not make a difficult pass; he gets to the net, he arrives at loose pucks, and he shoots from the paint.
36 points is a career year and it is the product of a system and a role rather than any skill that arrived at 33. That is not a criticism — the whole club is built on that idea.
The Physical Game
6-1 and 208, and among the harder-working forecheckers in the league. He finishes every check, he wins pucks on the wall, and he has never been accused of taking a shift off.
18 penalty minutes over 79 games is remarkable discipline for the style, and it is the sort of thing that separates a useful physical player from an expensive one.
