Florida Panthers Center #27
Fifty-nine per cent of his shots from inside twenty feet, from a checking-line centre.

Last Season
Eleven goals and 22 assists in 73 games — 33 points, plus-four, at 16:34 a night with 32 penalty minutes.
The Finesse Game
The shot chart is the best on the club and one of the better ones in this book. Fifty-nine per cent of his unblocked attempts came from inside twenty feet, median 17, with only 15 per cent from beyond forty.
Ten goals came out of 158 attempts, which is a modest conversion from excellent ice and says the hands are the limit rather than the positioning.
Twenty-two assists in a checking role is a real return.
The Physical Game
Six foot three, 191, and he plays a heavy forechecking game without taking penalties. Thirty-two penalty minutes in 73 games.
He goes to the net front and stays, which is where the shot chart comes from and why a third-line centre gets sixteen and a half minutes on a Stanley Cup team.
The Intangibles
Fifty-one point seven per cent of the expected goals, 69th percentile — the best forward mark on the club — and 52.9 per cent of the shot attempts, 81st.
Plus-four, on a roster where the two leading scorers finished minus-18 and minus-16. He was one of the very few Panthers the goaltending did not sink, which on this club is close to an achievement in itself.
He is 27, a forty-second overall pick, and exactly the sort of player a contender needs and nobody drafts a fantasy team around.
