The Finesse Game
A straight-line forechecking winger who has learned where goals come from. He arrives at the net and shoots quickly, and the release is decent without being a weapon.
22 assists is honest. There is no creation here and none required — his job is to win the puck back and get it to somebody who can do something with it, and then to be at the net when they do.
The Physical Game
6-2 and 205, and he forechecks with genuine force. He finishes checks at speed, wins pucks along the wall, and is one of the more difficult third-line wingers in the league to play against.
24 penalty minutes over 82 games is remarkably disciplined for the style, and the durability has been excellent.
The Intangibles
A third-round pick, four organisations, and a career of being underestimated at each one.
At 29 the projection is 20 goals and the same relentless work. The plus-36 is inflated by a very good team and the 96th-percentile chance share is not.
