Five goals of finishing above what the chances were worth and one fewer conceded than they called for. Eighty-five points is the third-best total any defenceman managed in this edition, behind Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar, and he is nearly a decade older than either.
The Finesse Game

505 career assists in 909 games. He skates the puck out of his own end and up the ice himself rather than passing it, joins the rush as the fourth man, and does it at 34 in the same way he did at 24. Twenty-three goals from the blue line is the second time he has managed it.
The Physical Game

381 career penalty minutes in 909 games at nearly twenty-five a night is a very low rate. He does not clear a crease and does not win many walls, and the defending has never been the reason to watch him.
