The Physical Game
Six foot two, 181, and he plays a committed two-way game without much weight behind it. Twenty-three penalty minutes.
He wins draws, kills penalties and takes the hard shift, and he is moved off pucks by heavy centres more often than a first-line man should be.
The Intangibles
Forty-seven point eight per cent of the expected goals, 34th percentile, and 46.8 per cent of the shot attempts, 24th, across 1,237 minutes — with the goals 42-39 in his favour.
On this roster that is the fourth-best chance share among the club’s eight busiest skaters, which is faint praise and also the truth.
Six points in his last ten. He is 23, and the question is no longer whether he is a good NHL centre — he is — but whether Seattle ever puts enough around him to find out what kind.
