The shot is one of the best in the league already and the chart is remarkable. Four hundred and three unblocked attempts — the most on the club — from a median of 33 feet, with only 23 per cent from inside twenty and 30 per cent from beyond forty.

Forty goals from that distance profile is extraordinary. He is doing what Kucherov and Celebrini do: beating goaltenders clean from range because the release is disguised and arrives before they are set.

It is also the profile most likely to be taken away in a playoff series, where the outside is precisely what a checking club concedes.
