Thin. Seventy-eight shots produced six goals, though the location is respectable — 47 per cent of his attempts from inside twenty feet, median 22. He is getting to the net and not finishing, which is the difference between him and Kastelic.

The Physical Game

Six foot two, 221, and genuinely hard to play against. He hits, he forechecks, he answers. Sixty-six penalty minutes is a fourth-liner doing the job without losing his head.

The Intangibles

He is the cautionary tale of the modern fourth line — one 24-goal season made him a valuable trade asset, and every club that has paid for him since has received the 22-point version instead.

The underlying rate was 49.2 per cent of the expected goals, 46th percentile, which is the second-best figure among Boston forwards and says less about him than about the company. The goals went 52-35 for; the expected goals went 36.6 to 37.9 against. Same story as everyone here.
