38 per cent of the expected goals at five-on-five over 1,155 minutes. That is the 2nd percentile in the league. His ice went 47-72 against an expectation of 44-71.75, which is the part that should worry Anaheim: the goals matched the chances almost exactly, so there is no bad luck to give back.

The Finesse Game
130 attempts at a median of 19 feet, with 51 per cent from inside 20, converting at 11.54 per cent. He shoots from where goals are scored and he is a genuine finisher in tight.
253 career assists says the passing is real, and it was real beside Panarin. The honest reading of his time in New York is that he was a very good complementary centre given first-line minutes and a first-line winger, and Anaheim has bought the minutes without either.
The Physical Game
6-1 and 192. 455 career penalty minutes is the record of a man who plays with an edge and takes the second penalty rather than one who hurts people.
The skating is the limitation and it is not close — 21.4 mph top end at the 10th percentile, 0.2 bursts over twenty miles an hour a game at the 6th. He does not separate from anybody, and at 30 he will not start.
The Intangibles
Fifth overall in 2011, 703 games and 398 points, and a career that has been solid without ever quite being what a fifth-overall pick implies.
He is 30 and signed through 2027 at a number that will be difficult to move. On a rebuilding club the veteran contract is supposed to buy stability for the young centres; the risk here is that it buys them a linemate whose results are the worst in the league.
