Last Season

Eight goals and 10 assists in 56 games, minus-three, at 10:55 a night — the lightest regular workload on the club.

The Finesse Game

He shoots a great deal for the ice he gets. A hundred and nine shots on goal in fewer than eleven minutes a night is an unusually high rate, and eight went in from a median distance of 27 feet.

That is a player generating volume without much quality, which is a fair summary of him. Ten assists says the playmaking is not going to add anything.

The Physical Game

Six foot even, 195, and he plays a fast, irritating forechecking game rather than a heavy one. Thirty-one penalty minutes.

The speed is the asset and it is what has kept him in the league across four organisations.

The Intangibles

The five-on-five rate was 48.7 per cent of the expected goals, 42nd percentile, with the shot attempts a little better at 51 per cent. In 572 minutes the goals were 28-29 — one of the few Bruins whose actual results were not inflated, which mostly means he was not on the ice with the shooters.

He is 30 and a hundred and forty-second overall pick with 269 games. One point in his last ten. This is the bottom of a roster and he is a reasonable occupant of it.
