Two hundred and thirty-one unblocked attempts in under thirteen minutes a night is exceptional volume — more than Cooley took in the same season — from a median of 29 feet with 32 per cent from inside twenty.

Sixteen goals from that chart is a fair conversion and the shot is quicker than the size suggests.

Fifteen assists is the flat part.

The Physical Game

Five foot nine and 182 pounds, and among the smallest forwards in the league. Twenty-two penalty minutes.

He is moved off pucks by everybody and gets to his ice on pure speed. There is no wall game and no net-front presence and there never will be.

The Intangibles

Fifty-six point six per cent of the expected goals, 94th percentile, and 57.9 per cent of the shot attempts, 96th — the best figures on the club — across 934 minutes, with the chances 46.0 to 35.4 in his favour and the goals 50-43.

That is a genuinely outstanding possession season from a fourth-line role.

Five points in his last ten, two of them goals. He is 30, undrafted, and spent seven years in the American League before anybody gave him a job. On this roster he is the most under-used player.
