Sixteen goals were conceded above expectation with him on the ice, and behind a goaltending group that finished 32nd in the league by twenty goals, that is what a minus-32 is made of.
The Finesse Game
63 attempts in 70 games at a median of 51 feet with 64 per cent from beyond 40. The shot is not the point and 7 goals on 63 attempts is a conversion rate that will not repeat.
The skating is elite for the position and the escape from a forecheck is the best thing about him. He is a genuine puck-mover, and 13 assists in 70 games on a club that scored 222 goals is not the measure of it.
The Physical Game
5-11 and 185 and among the lightest defencemen in the league. He does not clear a crease, he does not win a battle in the corner, and everything he does defensively he does with his feet and his stick.
22 penalty minutes in 70 games at twenty minutes a night is a very low rate, and it says he is rarely beaten badly enough to reach. That is the case for him, and it sits underneath a minus-32.
The Intangibles
