8 goals and 14 assists in 65 games for Pittsburgh — 22 points at 10:45 a night, minus-5, on 96 shots, converting at 8.33 per cent, and 12 penalty minutes.
53.8 per cent of the expected goals at five-on-five over 651 minutes, the 80th percentile — a very good number for a man playing under eleven minutes. His ice went 25-29 against an expectation of 29.13-25.04, which is four goals of scoring missing and four more conceded than the chances predicted: the results were worse than the shifts.

70 goals and 176 points in 413 career games. The best season of his career was his first, 47 points as a rookie in Boston in 2017-18, and six years of trying to get back to it have produced nothing above 34.
He reads the game well and makes the correct simple play, which is what keeps him employed.

1.80 miles a game is the 7th percentile, which is partly the ten-minute role and partly a player who does not chase. 22.2 mph at the 47th percentile is ordinary. He is a positional forward and neither the speed nor the work rate is a selling point.

He is a useful thirteenth forward and the club is currently short enough at centre that he may play a good deal more than that, which is a description of Boston’s problem rather than a promotion for him.
