Connor Brown

This Season So Far
The 2025-26 season has not started. The empty row above is his, and both it and this paragraph fill in on their own from the morning after he first plays: what he has done, what it is worth against his own last season, and the run he is on when the two disagree.
Last Season
13 goals and 17 assists in 82 games for 30 points, plus-9, on 14:01 a night with Edmonton, including a shorthanded goal and 4 game-winners.
123 shots and 13 goals at 10.6 per cent. 82 games after a knee reconstruction that cost him most of a season two years ago, which is the useful part.
The Finesse Game
Quick and honest and short of finish. The hands work at pace and the release is ordinary, and 30 points is close to what he has produced in each healthy season since his mid-twenties.
17 assists is fair. The value is in arriving first, forechecking, and not losing the puck in dangerous places.
The Physical Game
6 feet and 184, and light. He forechecks with real speed and is honest on the wall without winning much by force.
10 penalty minutes over 82 games is exceptional discipline and it is the most useful line in his record for a club that kills at the 7th-best rate.
The Intangibles
A sixth-round pick, five organisations, a knee reconstruction that nearly ended the career, and two consecutive Cup finals in a bottom-six role.
At 32 the projection is 25 points and genuinely good penalty killing. New Jersey needed a third-line winger who defends and bought one cheaply.

The eye and the numbers
HindsightThe two rank him within 19 points of one another. It was written for a back edition, with the seasons that followed already known. Neither the agreement nor the gap says anything about the eye, and this report is excluded from the club-level comparison for the same reason.
Both bars are percentiles among the 357 skaters in this edition with a report and enough ice time. The report bar ranks the mean of the grades above — 77 on their own scale — against every other report's mean. The numbers bar ranks his share of expected goals. A gap is a disagreement about where he belongs, not two scales talking past each other.
Usual linemates
2024-25 with EDM · 934 minutes at five-on-five
Share of his five-on-five ice time spent alongside each player, measured from shift charts. Special teams are excluded: a power-play unit is not a line.
Why the numbers land there
Five-on-five, 2024-25
- The club
- EDM took 54.3% of the expected goals as a club. His own share is 50.4% — 3.9 below the club he did it on.
- The role
- Third line, 934 minutes at five-on-five — 51st percentile in ice time.
With and without
| Teammate | Together | Him apart | Mate apart |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mattias Janmark | 50.1% | 50.7% | 48.8% |
| Adam Henrique | 46.6% | 53.1% | 49.0% |
| Darnell Nurse | 52.4% | 49.2% | 53.7% |
50.1% together, 50.7% for him apart and 48.8% for Janmark apart. Splitting them up moved neither man. Whatever is driving the share, it is not this pairing.
Expected-goal share while both were on the ice, and for each man in the minutes he played without the other. Apart is the pair subtracted from his own totals. It does not settle who was carrying whom — apart from each other, both were still playing with somebody — but it does say whether the share travelled when the pairing broke up.
