This Season So Far
The 2025-26 season has not started. The empty row above is his, and both it and this paragraph fill in on their own from the morning after he first plays: what he has done, what it is worth against his own last season, and the run he is on when the two disagree.
Last Season
18 goals and 32 assists in 82 games — 50 points at 15:11 a night, plus-14, with 5 power-play goals and 2 game-winners on 143 shots, converting at 12.6 per cent, and 20 penalty minutes.
52.4 per cent of the expected goals at five-on-five, the 74th percentile. His ice went 28-36 against an expectation of 40.71-36.93 — thirteen goals of scoring missing on a third line that was creating well, and the only negative on-ice differential among the club’s top nine forwards.
The Finesse Game
143 attempts at a median of 25 feet with 41 per cent from inside 20 and 15 per cent from beyond 40, converting at 12.6 per cent.
32 assists is the better half and the hockey sense is the best thing about him. He arrives in the right place, he sees the seam before the puck gets to him, and he makes the correct read on a two-on-one almost every time. 125 points in 222 career games at 23.
The Physical Game
5-11 and 185 and he does not play a physical game at all. He does not forecheck with force and he does not win pucks against defencemen.
20 penalty minutes in 82 games. He is disciplined and uninvolved in that half of the game, and at fifteen minutes a night on a Presidents’ Trophy club that has so far been affordable.
The Intangibles
Tenth overall in 2020 and 222 games and 125 points, all of it here.
He is 23. He tied Game 7 of the first round against St. Louis with 1.6 seconds left in regulation, which is the kind of thing a career gets built on and which the numbers on this page will never contain.

The eye and the numbers
HindsightThe two rank him within 9 points of one another. It was written for a back edition, with the seasons that followed already known. Neither the agreement nor the gap says anything about the eye, and this report is excluded from the club-level comparison for the same reason.
Both bars are percentiles among the 637 skaters in this edition with a report and enough ice time. The report bar ranks the mean of the grades above — 75 on their own scale — against every other report's mean. The numbers bar ranks his share of expected goals. A gap is a disagreement about where he belongs, not two scales talking past each other.
Usual linemates
2024-25 · 1049 minutes at five-on-five
Share of his five-on-five ice time spent alongside each player, measured from shift charts. Special teams are excluded: a power-play unit is not a line.
Why the numbers land there
Five-on-five, 2024-25
- The club
- WPG took 51.8% of the expected goals as a club. His own share is 52.4% — 0.6 above the club he did it on.
- The role
- Third line, 1,049 minutes at five-on-five — 68th percentile in ice time.
With and without
| Teammate | Together | Him apart | Mate apart |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vladislav Namestnikov | 52.8% | 51.1% | 47.4% |
| Nikolaj Ehlers | 52.5% | 52.3% | 54.2% |
| Josh Morrissey | 50.2% | 53.7% | 54.9% |
52.8% together, 51.1% for him apart and 47.4% for Namestnikov apart. Namestnikov was worse away from him while his own share held — the pairing was doing more for Namestnikov than for him.
Expected-goal share while both were on the ice, and for each man in the minutes he played without the other. Apart is the pair subtracted from his own totals. It does not settle who was carrying whom — apart from each other, both were still playing with somebody — but it does say whether the share travelled when the pairing broke up.
Where he shoots from
