The hands and the vision are genuine. He is a patient passer who holds the puck until a lane opens rather than forcing it, and he is excellent on the half-wall on a power play — that is where most of his value sits.
The shot is quick and accurate from the slot. 136 shots in 68 games is a decent volume; the conversion is what has not arrived.
The skating is the ceiling. He is not slow, but he does not separate, and against NHL defencemen with good gaps he cannot create space by himself. Everything he does well requires a linemate to make room.
The Physical Game
5-11 and 185, and he plays a light game. He does not win pucks along the wall, avoids the interior, and is not a factor on the forecheck. The minus-9 is partly that.
The Intangibles
