On-ice goals of 47-33 against an expected 33.45-34.81 — his line scored fourteen more than the chances said it should have and conceded two fewer, which is one of the largest positive gaps of any fourth-line forward in this edition. A 49 per cent chance share underneath it. The minus-13 comes from shorthanded time on a unit that finished 31st in the league, and it is not a description of him.
The Finesse Game
41 per cent of his shots came from inside 20 feet at a median of 25, and 7.22 per cent on 97 attempts is what a fourth-line centre returns.
There is not much offensive game here and there has not been for a decade. He wins draws, he forechecks, and he is on the ice at the end of periods and the ends of games because nothing about his judgement changes with the score.
The Physical Game
5-11 and 191 and among the most consistently physical forwards in the league at that size — he hits everything, he blocks shots, and 51 penalty minutes at thirteen minutes a night is the standing cost.
He has fought men eighty pounds heavier and has never once looked reluctant about it.
