The Finesse Game
A good skater who moves the puck early and accurately, which is why he was handed eighteen minutes immediately rather than eased in. He is comfortable under a forecheck and does not panic with the puck on his backhand — the specific thing that separates a fifth-round pick from a career in the American League.

188 pounds and positional. He is not going to clear a crease, and he is not overwhelmed either; the defending is done with stick and gap rather than contact.
6 penalty minutes in 23 games at eighteen minutes a night is a very good rate for a first-year defenceman, who usually reaches.
The Intangibles
A fifth-round pick out of Sweden who spent three years in the American League before anybody looked at him seriously.
He is 25, which is late, and he was the best defenceman on this club by chance share in the games he played, which is early. Both are true, and the second is considerably more interesting than the first.
