None. A hundred and fifteen unblocked attempts from a median of 55 feet, four per cent from inside twenty, two goals. Thirty goals in 615 career games.

Thirteen assists in a full season. He is on the ice to defend and to be unpleasant.

The Physical Game

Six foot four, 215, and the entire proposition. Eighty-three penalty minutes, a genuine willingness to fight, and a cleared crease.

The skating is poor and it is the ceiling: he cannot recover when beaten wide, which is why the ice time has settled at sixteen minutes.

The Intangibles

Forty-seven point nine per cent of the expected goals, 36th percentile, against 45.9 per cent of the shot attempts, 16th — the puck spent a great deal of time in the wrong end while he was out there and the chances stayed closer than that.

The goals were 45-46, essentially level, on a club whose goaltending was twenty goals better than the chances predicted.

He is 33, in his twelfth season with one club, and playing on a blue line where four of six regulars sit below the fortieth percentile. New York’s defensive numbers are not one man’s doing.
