Four goals and nine points in 37 games, minus-ten, on nine and a half minutes a night. That is a poor line even for a fourth-liner, and the minus-ten in that few games is worse.
The Finesse Game
The speed is the whole file. He is genuinely quick, dangerous on a shorthanded rush, and can turn a neutral-zone turnover into a chance by himself.
Everything else is thin. Forty goals in 330 career games, no playmaking to speak of, and hands that do not work when the play slows down. When the speed does not produce, the shift produces nothing.
The Physical Game
Six feet and 201, and he does not play to it. He is not a forechecker who wins pucks, and he does not go to the hard areas.
The Intangibles
Four organisations in four years is its own kind of scouting report — a player teams keep acquiring for the legs and keep moving on from once they see the rest.
At twenty-eight this is likely settled. He is a thirteenth forward whose speed will get him another contract somewhere and will not get him a regular job.
