This Season So Far
The 2025-26 season has not started. The empty row above is his, and both it and this paragraph fill in on their own from the morning after he first plays: what he has done, what it is worth against his own last season, and the run he is on when the two disagree.
Last Season
11 goals and 10 assists in 77 games for 21 points, minus-12, on 13:25 a night.
46.4 per cent at five-on-five, the 21st percentile. 59 per cent of his shots came from inside 20 feet at a median of 16 — one of the most extreme interior profiles in this edition — and 11.1 per cent conversion from those distances is a low return.
The Finesse Game
Limited. 99 shots and 11 goals, and 10 assists in a full season is thin even for a fourth-line centre.
The hands in tight are ordinary for a man who spends his whole night within 20 feet of a goaltender, which is the specific thing keeping him from being useful. If the finishing improved he would be a 20-goal player.
The Physical Game
6-6 and 222, and this is the job. He is very difficult to move from the front of the net, wins pucks below the goal line, and forechecks with real weight.
24 penalty minutes over 77 games is disciplined for the size. The skating is the limitation and it is why he has never been trusted with more than fourteen minutes.
The Intangibles
A 9th overall pick who has become a fourth-line net-front centre, which is a long way from what the draft position implied and a genuinely useful player.
At 26 this is close to the answer. The projection is 12 goals and hard minutes, and the club has now given him seven seasons to become more.

The eye and the numbers
HindsightThe report ranks him 32 points above where the numbers do. It was written for a back edition, with the seasons that followed already known. Neither the agreement nor the gap says anything about the eye, and this report is excluded from the club-level comparison for the same reason. Why the numbers land there sets out the club he did it on, the minutes he played and the men he played them with.
Both bars are percentiles among the 357 skaters in this edition with a report and enough ice time. The report bar ranks the mean of the grades above — 73 on their own scale — against every other report's mean. The numbers bar ranks his share of expected goals. A gap is a disagreement about where he belongs, not two scales talking past each other.

Share of his five-on-five ice time spent alongside each player, measured from shift charts. Special teams are excluded: a power-play unit is not a line.
Why the numbers land there
Five-on-five, 2024-25
- The club
- DET took 48.2% of the expected goals as a club. His own share is 46.4% — 1.8 below the club he did it on.
- The role
- Fourth line, 840 minutes at five-on-five — 40th percentile in ice time.
With and without
| Teammate | Together | Him apart | Mate apart |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ben Chiarot | 38.5% | 52.5% | 46.9% |
| Moritz Seider | 49.8% | 44.3% | 48.6% |
| Simon Edvinsson | 47.9% | 45.8% | 49.2% |
38.5% together, 52.5% for him apart and 46.9% for Chiarot apart. Both were better apart than together — the pairing was doing neither of them any favours.
Expected-goal share while both were on the ice, and for each man in the minutes he played without the other. Apart is the pair subtracted from his own totals. It does not settle who was carrying whom — apart from each other, both were still playing with somebody — but it does say whether the share travelled when the pairing broke up.
