Last Season
Three goals and four assists in 35 games — seven points, minus-six, at 10:26 a night with 31 penalty minutes. His five-on-five work was done in Calgary.
The Finesse Game
Very little. Fifty-one unblocked attempts, three goals, median 29 feet with 37 per cent inside twenty. Twenty-eight points in 165 career games from a thirtieth overall pick.
The offence was never really the case for him; the skating was.
The Physical Game
Six foot three, 220, and genuinely fast for the size — that combination is why Boston took him in the first round. He forechecks well and kills penalties.
Thirty-one penalty minutes in 35 games says he competes.
The Intangibles
The numbers are poor: 45.2 per cent of the expected goals, 15th percentile, and 43.3 per cent of the shot attempts, fifth, across 311 minutes on the league’s worst offensive club by expected goals.
That context is doing real work — Calgary was 32nd in even-strength expected goals for — but a fourth-line forward in the fifth percentile has nothing much to point at.
He is 25, on his third organisation, and out of the runway a first-round pick usually gets. A big man who can skate always finds another look; this is probably the last one on a contender.
