The Finesse Game

The hands are good in tight and always have been. He protects pucks below the goal line, finds a seam from behind the net, and gets to the front of it — none of which requires the pace he no longer has.

115 shots is modest volume and 18 assists is thin for a centre playing 17 minutes. The offensive ceiling was reached some years ago and the game has been redirected toward the parts that age well.
