Twenty-two and a half minutes a night, and the twenty-second percentile in possession.

Last Season

Four goals and 22 assists in 74 games — 26 points, plus-five, at 22:32 a night.

The Finesse Game

A puck-mover by trade. The first pass is quick and accurate and he is comfortable carrying under pressure, which is the reason a fourteenth overall pick plays these minutes.

The shot is not a factor: 138 unblocked attempts, median 39 feet, four goals. Twenty-two assists is a fair return and most of it is the outlet rather than anything created.

The Physical Game

Six foot even, 194, and light for the workload. Twenty-eight penalty minutes. He defends with stick and positioning, and is moved out of his own net front by heavy forwards.

The Intangibles

Fifty-one per cent of the expected goals, 62nd percentile, against only 46.5 per cent of the shot attempts, 22nd, across 1,309 minutes.

That is the Philadelphia bargain taken to its extreme, and it works: the goals went 56-42 in his favour.

No points in his last ten. He is 25, and on a blue line with Sanheim, Drysdale and Ristolainen he is the third or fourth option who plays twenty-two minutes, which says more about the club’s depth than about him.
