He loses net-front battles and is moved off pucks. The skating is fair and the defensive reads have been the criticism at three organisations.

The Intangibles

Forty-four point eight per cent of the expected goals, 13th percentile, and 41.8 per cent of the shot attempts — the second percentile in the league — across 804 minutes in San Jose.

That attempt share is among the four or five worst of any defenceman in this book, and eight hundred minutes is a large enough sample to mean it.
