This Season So Far

The 2025-26 season has not started. The empty row above is his, and both it and this paragraph fill in on their own from the morning after he first plays: what he has done, what it is worth against his own last season, and the run he is on when the two disagree.

Last Season

13 goals and 14 assists in 82 games — 27 points at 13:34 a night, plus-8, with 78 penalty minutes, the most on the club, on 90 shots.

52.6 per cent of the expected goals at five-on-five, the 76th percentile. His ice went 41-36 against an expectation of 39.19-35.30, which is a fourth line that came out slightly ahead on both sides.

The Finesse Game

90 attempts at a median of 20 feet with 50 per cent from inside 20, converting at 14.4 per cent. He shoots from the paint and nowhere else.

14 assists in 82 games. There is no creation and there does not need to be; he is a net-front body who converts what arrives at his feet.

The Physical Game

6-4 and 219 and he is the hardest man on this roster to play against. He forechecks with force, he finishes checks that hurt, he wins pucks below the goal line, and he cannot be moved from in front of a net.

78 penalty minutes in 82 games is a high rate and a share of it is deliberate. He crosses the line, he answers everything, and he is the reason the club has any edge at all.

The Intangibles

A third-round pick of Minnesota in 2018 who went to Boston College, did not sign there, and was traded to Arizona in 2022 — 241 games and 82 points.

He is 25, he is signed long, and on a roster whose three best forwards weigh 175, 184 and 191 pounds he is not optional.

The two rank him within 10 points of one another. It was written for a back edition, with the seasons that followed already known. Neither the agreement nor the gap says anything about the eye, and this report is excluded from the club-level comparison for the same reason.

Both bars are percentiles among the 637 skaters in this edition with a report and enough ice time. The report bar ranks the mean of the grades above — 75 on their own scale — against every other report's mean. The numbers bar ranks his share of expected goals. A gap is a disagreement about where he belongs, not two scales talking past each other.

Usual linemates

Share of his five-on-five ice time spent alongside each player, measured from shift charts. Special teams are excluded: a power-play unit is not a line.

Why the numbers land there

Five-on-five, 2024-25

Logan Cooley44.6%56.3%49.1%

59.0% together, 47.2% for him apart and 51.3% for Crouse apart. Both were worse apart, so whatever the two of them had together was doing real work.

Expected-goal share while both were on the ice, and for each man in the minutes he played without the other. Apart is the pair subtracted from his own totals. It does not settle who was carrying whom — apart from each other, both were still playing with somebody — but it does say whether the share travelled when the pairing broke up.
