Twenty-two assists in 79 games is a fair rate for a defenceman whose value is in the exit rather than the finish. A hundred and fifteen points in 338 career games.

The Physical Game

Six foot two and 183 pounds, and light. Sixty-nine penalty minutes is a high rate and most of it is a small defenceman using his stick because he cannot use his body.

He does not clear a crease. The skating is the answer to all of it and it is genuinely good.

The Intangibles

Fifty-five point eight per cent of the expected goals, 90th percentile, and 56.9 per cent of the shot attempts, 94th, across 1,427 minutes — the heaviest workload on the club — with the chances 72.0 to 57.0 in his favour and the goals 66 for and 47 against.

The plus-41 is the sixth-highest figure in this book and, unusually, the underlying numbers support nearly all of it.
