Genuinely skilled hands and a good skating base. He is comfortable carrying the puck through the neutral zone, he can make a play at speed, and he has scored some very good goals in his career.

What has never arrived is volume. Seventy-four shots in fifty-one games, forty-eight goals in 283 career games, and long stretches where he is on the ice without affecting anything. The skill is real; the impact is intermittent.

He left North America mid-career for personal reasons and came back, which is unusual and speaks to a player who has had a complicated professional life. He is well regarded by teammates everywhere he has been.

At twenty-seven, this is likely what he is: a useful, skilled bottom-six winger who will give you twenty points and the occasional excellent night.
