Eight goals and 14 points in 60 games, minus-13, on under fourteen minutes a night. The minus is the worst on the club among regulars and reflects both the assignment and a thin year.
The Finesse Game
Modest but real. He has scored twenty in a season, he can make a play off the wall, and he is comfortable on a power-play second unit. A hundred and forty-five goals in 846 games is a fair middle-six career.
Seventy-six shots in sixty games is a low volume and the offence has been trending down for several years.
The Physical Game
Six feet and 181, and he plays a light, positional game. He is not a forechecker who wins pucks by force and does not go to the interior often.
The Intangibles
A first-round pick who never became a top-six forward and made himself into a versatile depth centre instead — he can play either wing, kill penalties, and take a defensive-zone draw.
At thirty-three, with the production falling, the value is entirely in flexibility. That is a role that gets handed to a younger player as soon as one is ready.
