The Finesse Game

He makes the simple pass and gets off the ice. There is no evidence yet of anything more and the club is not asking for it.
The Physical Game
Six foot seven and 237 pounds, which makes him the heaviest player in this edition and one of the two tallest. He hits like it, he clears the crease like it, and 37 penalty minutes in 50 games of third-pair ice is a high rate.
The skating is better than it has any right to be at this size, and it is the whole reason he is an NHL defenceman at 21 rather than a project.
The Intangibles
Forty-eight point four per cent of the expected goals, 39th percentile, in 737 minutes — below the line, on a club whose defensive structure is the fourth best in the league.

He is 21 and the eighteenth pick in 2022, and this is a page where the scouting read matters more than the arithmetic. A defenceman this size who can skate is worth developing patiently, and Dallas is a club built to win in a spring where exactly that becomes valuable.
