The Finesse Game
A straightforward winger who gets to the net and shoots. The release is decent without being a weapon and the hands work at NHL pace in traffic, which is the part that matters.
There is not much creation here — 12 assists — and he is not going to run a line. What he does is finish shifts in the offensive zone, which for a bottom-six winger is the job.
The Physical Game
6-2 and 198, and genuinely willing. He forechecks hard, goes into corners, and gets to the front of the net where the punishment is.
8 penalty minutes in 51 games is exceptional discipline for a player who spends that much time in traffic.
The Intangibles
The son of a franchise’s most identifiable player, drafted by that franchise, and traded out of it before his second full season. He has handled the weight of the name without any visible difficulty.
The realistic projection is a third-line winger who kills penalties. On a club that just traded a 28-goal scorer, he is the smaller half of the return and the one with the more certain floor.
