Last Season

Twenty goals and 18 assists in all 82 games — 38 points, minus-12, at 16:51 a night with 65 penalty minutes.

The Finesse Game

The shot location is the reason the goals arrived: 244 unblocked attempts with 47 per cent from inside twenty feet, median 23, and nineteen goals.

He is a big winger who goes to the net rather than a skilled one who settles for the outside, and at 24 that habit is worth more than a better set of hands would be.

Eighteen assists is the ceiling on the playmaking.

The Physical Game

Six foot three, 212, and one of the genuinely heavy forwards in the league. Sixty-five penalty minutes, a willingness to fight, and a forecheck that arrives on time and hard.

He is fast for the size, which is the difference between a fourth-liner and a top-nine winger.

The Intangibles

Forty-seven point eight per cent of the expected goals, 34th percentile, with the goals 50-46 in his favour across 1,099 minutes — one of the few Rangers whose actual results beat the chances.

Six points in his last ten, four of them goals. He is 24, a second-round pick, and a hundred and four points into 249 games.

On a club that finished 29th in generating offence and needs somebody to make room, he is the most useful young forward here.
