He clears his crease, blocks shots, and defends the front of the net. The skating is heavy and the puck decisions under pressure are the reason he has been a seventh defenceman across four organisations.

Forty-two point two per cent of the expected goals, fourth percentile, and 42.4 per cent of the shot attempts, third, across 531 minutes.

Those are the worst figures of any Toronto skater, on a club where the best was 48.9 per cent.
