Six foot five and 174 pounds — the most unusual build in this edition, four inches taller than Adam Fox and eleven pounds lighter. He defends entirely with reach and stick, because there is no strength to fall back on.

Sixty penalty minutes suggests he competes; in front of his own net he is moved at will.

The Intangibles

Forty-two point four per cent of the expected goals, fifth percentile, and 43.7 per cent of the shot attempts, sixth — with the chances running 50.1 to 68.0 against across fifteen hundred minutes and the goals 52-81.

Those are among the worst figures in this book, in a very large sample, in top-four minutes.

He is 30 and joins a Rangers blue line that already has Schneider at the tenth percentile. New York finished eleventh in even-strength expected goals against last season, and this is the sort of addition that does not protect that.
