The Finesse Game
The speed is the skill and it is near the top of the league. He is the club’s most dangerous forechecker for that reason: he arrives before the defenceman has turned, which turns ordinary dump-ins into possessions.
The hands do not keep up with the feet. 10 goals on 89 shots from good locations is a finisher who is not one, and he has never been trusted with a scoring role because the play tends to end when the decision gets complicated.
