Winnipeg Jets Defense #57
A second-round Swedish defenceman who got thirty-two games as a rookie and did not look out of place.

Last Season
One goal and five points in 32 games, minus-six, on eighteen minutes a night. Eighteen minutes for a twenty-one-year-old defenceman in his first NHL season is a genuine vote of confidence.
The Finesse Game
He moves the puck cleanly and skates well enough to escape a forecheck, which are the two requirements. Thirty-seven shots in thirty-two games is a reasonable rate and suggests a defenceman who is willing to join the play.
There is not enough evidence for more than that. What can be said is that he was given real minutes and the club did not have to hide him.
The Physical Game
Six feet and 172, which is light for the position, and it is the obvious thing to watch. He can be moved off pucks in front of his own net and will need weight before he can handle a top-four role.
The Intangibles
Developed at home in Sweden rather than rushed to North America, which has become the sensible route and shows in how ready he looked.
Twenty-two this season, on a defence where the third pairing is unsettled. That is an opening, and the sample so far says he is worth giving it to.
