Eight goals and 17 points in 66 games, plus-one, on ten and a half minutes a night. Both are career highs, in the first season he has held an NHL job from start to finish.
The Finesse Game
Modest. Nineteen goals in 165 career games, mostly from within a few feet. He shoots when a puck arrives and does not carry it into trouble.
Eighty-six shots in sixty-six games at ten minutes a night is a genuinely high rate, and reflects a player who goes to the net rather than one who is looking to make plays.
The Physical Game
Six-one and 207, and this is the job. He forechecks hard, finishes checks, and is willing in the corners. He kills penalties.
The Intangibles
A sixth-round pick, a long route through college and the minors, and a first full NHL season at twenty-seven. That sequence describes a player who is here on habits rather than talent.
There is not much projection. He is a fourth-line winger who does the job properly, and the club will keep him until somebody cheaper and younger does the same thing.
