The Finesse Game
Minimal in volume and excellent in placement. Forty-three unblocked attempts, of which 58 per cent came from inside twenty feet with a median of 17 — among the shortest average distances of any forward in this edition.
Three goals came out of it. Sixteen points in 97 career games.
He is a net-front player and nothing else, which at his size is a reasonable division of labour.
The Physical Game
Six foot seven and 232 pounds, one of the two tallest men in this edition alongside Crevier and Klapka. He screens, he tips, and he is genuinely immovable in front of the net.
Two penalty minutes in 35 games is a startling number for a player built like this and is the criticism: he occupies space rather than imposing on it.
The Intangibles
Forty-five point eight per cent of the expected goals, 17th percentile, in 326 minutes on a good club.
He is 25, a sixth-round pick, and joins a Nashville roster that already has Schaefer at six foot five and Hague at six foot six. That is a lot of size on a team whose problem was conceding chances rather than losing fights.
