The Physical Game

6 foot even, 188, which makes him one of the two or three smallest goaltenders in the league alongside Wolf in Calgary. Like Wolf, he cannot take away net by standing in it, so everything has to be an actual save.

He is quick, he tracks well through screens, and the depth management is disciplined — he plays further out than his size would suggest is wise and gets away with it because he is rarely beaten across.

Rebound control is good rather than exceptional.

The Mental Game

Undrafted, 4 seasons of American League work, and he has taken the job from a former starter and kept it. That requires something.
