The Finesse Game

Twenty-two unblocked attempts is very low volume, and 82 per cent of them came from inside twenty feet, with a median of eleven — as close as anybody in this edition shoots, on far too few attempts to trust.

One goal came of it. Twenty-two attempts is not enough to conclude anything except that when he shoots, he is standing in the right place.

Four assists in 28 games is thin.

The Physical Game

Six foot even, 184, and light. Twelve penalty minutes.

He forechecks willingly and does not win much. The skating is fair and the compete is what got an undrafted forward out of the Western league this far.

The Intangibles

Fifty point nine per cent of the expected goals, 61st percentile, and 48.2 per cent of the shot attempts, 37th, across 243 minutes.

That chance share is the best figure any Vancouver forward posted, and it came in two hundred and forty-three minutes, which is the caveat.

Three points in his last ten, one a goal. He is 25, undrafted, the first player of Punjabi descent to play for the club he grew up supporting, and a thirteenth forward. On this roster that is worth a look.
